I am such a skincare addict! I love taking care of my skin so I don’t have to put on makeup also everyday. Syempre I still put on makeup for special events pero as much as possible, I want to look natural and achieve that glow from within. It all started just before I got married, I wanted to have great skin because mine is naturally dry. I started researching Korean routine kasi diba they have really beautiful skin. Hindi ako sure if it’s the weather or what, but they really have the best skin.
I found a lot of stuff from their 10-12-15-step routines, products, and best practices. I started trying stuff out, paisa-isa until eventually got to my own routine. At one point, I even got a breakout because of too many products, but I can say that now I have my set of products I absolutely love. So here is my skincare routine you can try out for yourself!
Step 1: Double Cleansing
So, I researched and found out that double-cleansing is important! When you use just one cleanser, you’re not really fully cleaning your skin. How double cleansing happens is you start with an oil-based cleanser then a water-based product after. This is really how you should properly clean your skin, kasi if not, then you add the next steps, it really won’t be absorbed!
I use Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil and Cera Ve Hydrating Cleanser (which I got in Hong Kong). This is derma-recommended because it’s mild, and perfect for sensitive skin! By the way, I don’t double-cleanse in the morning, just in the evening kasi your skin is dirty when you get home after all the pollution outside and of course makeup the entire day!
Step 2: Toner
I use Beauty Water by Son & Park, which I got from Sephora in the US,but you can purchase this at www.beautymnl.com as well. Someone recommended it to me PLUS the crazy thing is the two times I bought, someone just randomly told me it’s the best so I really hoarded it! It is considered holy grail talaga by a lot of people! I really love using this one for my skin.
Step 3: First Treatment Essence
You know the first time I read and heard about this, inisip ko, kailangan pa ba talaga yan? And the answer is yes! Prepping your skin is super important because it allows for the other products to be absorbed properly. I use Missha’s Time Revolution Pro Ferment that is one of their trademarks. What I do is I put on a small amount on my hands and pat all over my face. It really makes a difference because my complexion got better!
Step 4: La Mer Genaissance The Infused Lotion
The next step is really to feed your skin with nutrients. I know La Mer is an expensive brand BUT hear me out! I tried several other substitutes, but wala talaga. My skin was okay with the other options, but there’s no glow. And that’s what we want! The Infused Lotion by La Mer Genaissance brightens my complexion and keeps my skin hydrated.
It’s for anti-aging talaga, and yes, I may not be really old yet, but with all the work and everything, I know I have to start early and prevent bad skin in the future caused by stress!
Step 5: La Mer The Concentrate
The thing with my skin is because it’s sensitive, I tend to have a lot of redness. Before my wedding day, when I did some laser treatments at the Aivee Clinic to have the best skin ever, I’d get really red! La Mer The Concentrate was my go-to to lessen the redness.
Step 6: Biossance Squalene Vitamin C Rose Oil (Morning) and La Mer Moisturizing Cream (Night)
I got the Biossance Squalene Vitamin C Rose Oil from Sephora in the States. When you buy a lot there (and I buy a lot!), you actually get free stuff even a facial! When I had mine, the girl gave me a lot of recommendations for my skin and she told me about this product. It really makes my skin glow with better complexion! It’s expensive, but really worth it especially when you get less sleep. Remember, less sleep = bad skin!
At night, I use the La Mer Moisturizing Cream because I have dry skin, I really opted for this original formula. I use this everyday 2x a day! I’ve tried a lot of other Korean or local products, but this is really the one for me. I can’t find anything that can hydrate my skin as much as this!
Step 7: Mineral Sunscreen
I cannot stress this enough, but sunscreen is super important! Kahit na you’ll just be in the car or something, you need sunscreen in the daytime. For me, I use the Supergoop! Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen, which is pregnancy friendly too! The best part is it blends well with my makeup. Some sunscreens kasi may be hard to put or does not blend well so it changes or doesn’t last long.
Step 8: La Mer Genaissance Eye Cream
I don’t have eyebags, but I have dark under eyes, and the La Mer Genaissance Eye Cream really does the trick because it’s all in one. Ang mahal so ang sakit talaga but honestly, if you’re going to splurge, do it with eye creams! Our eyes are the most sensitive parts of our faces, so make sure to get the right one for you. Honestly, if I can only buy one thing, I will get this. Like for example, when I take care of my baby late at night until the wee hours in the morning, my eyes are really bad in the morning. When I use this eye cream, after a few hours, my eyes look better. I really recommend this!
That’s my complete skincare routine, but I also have some recos for scrubs and masks you can try! I have tried so many like SK-11, or Charlotte & Co masks, or Sulwhasoo and these are my go-to!
For exfoliation, I use Lancer The Method: Polish! I actually found out about this while I was in the US. I downloaded the Kim Kardashian app and read about her skin care routine. I saw that she goes to Dr. Lancer and saw that he had products under his name. At first, I didn’t want to buy into it kasi doba baka marketing lang, but then the girl from Sephora told me about the after-effect of baby skin, so I was sold! I bought it and tried, and I swear! Baby soft skin talaga! It helps remove dead skin cells with the small beads when you cleanse. You have to try it!
My absolute fave face mask is the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask from Sephora. You can purchase this at www.beautymnl.com , P.S. guys you can use my promo code JAMCHANCUA it will give you 100 pesos discount with minimum purchase of 1000 pesos! This is a product from Glow Recipe, and it has a gentle way of removing dead skin cells. It smells super good, and really good for the skin. It brightens and hydrates, so it’s an all-in-one mask. It removes the impurities. It’s really good. I leave it on at night sometimes instead of the moisturizer. I end up getting radiant complexion with a really healthy skin glow!
I use Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask Ex for my peeling mask needs! I only use this when I have a breakout or I notice a lot of blackheads. You just put it on your skin, then after a few minutes, you peel it off. You’ll see that it can really remove the impurities!
So that’s it! That’s my skin care routine plus recos on my very own Holy Grail products to use. If you’re just starting with your routine, I hope this helps you figure your own right! And by the way none of these products are sponsored I really purchase the products and all my comments are based on my experience using the products.
